A Future with Hydrogen—Opportunities and Challenges of Hydrogen Combustion for Decarbonization
Hydrogen—the highly volatile gas is the buzzword of the decade and rightfully so. The combustion of hydrogen yields zero carbon emissions, making it a viable, desirable clean energy solution option. The use of gaseous hydrogen as an alternative fuel source has been a recent topic of discussion among many industry experts in the steam generation industry. Existing infrastructure and design standards have been established to support the use of hydrocarbons, such as natural gas, as a fuel source, but the characteristics of hydrogen gas is cause for additional consideration for designers and end users alike.
